Burn Ban in Effect

Jun 23, 2023 | News | 0 comments

With the increasing severity of the drought at this time, and with no measurable amount of rain coming in the near future the Walnut Fire Department is placing a burn ban for the entire Walnut Fire Protection District until further notice. This ban does not permit open burning. However, recreational fires that are placed in a firepit or LP/gas fireplace, grill, etc. that are constantly supervised are permittable.

The State of Illinois and the Village of Walnut has an ordinance in place restricting the use of fireworks, sparklers, etc. Please abide by that ordinance. At this time, the fireworks that are to be held on July 2nd , 2023 are still going to be displayed at dusk. Please refrain from blocking any roadway to allow emergency vehicles access if an emergency arises.
